Motorhead has had their own whiskey for a long time via Sweden’s Macmyra distillery. Now an Atlantic City bottling company that has a history of teaming up with bands and musicians for limited editions, has partnered with the band for a limited edition, hand selected barrel of Jack Daniel’s. Sadly this expression is already sold out as it was limited to 288 bottles for this first run and came with a commemorative box and bottle medallion. The whiskey itself was described as:
“…dark, oaky, but still some corn and sweetness with that signature Jack smooth charcoal smoky finish.”
If you’re like the rest of us and missed the chance to snag a bottle from this barreling, there is hope. It seems that there will be future releases from the band and Jack Daniels and if you’re interested you can pre-order a bottle from the ACB Bottle Company out of Atlantic City and you’ll be notified when more become available.
Sadly this isn’t a true collaboration between the band and Jack, but coming so soon after his death it could have easily been seen as a cash grab by the brand, rather than a fitting tribute. Due to the limited nature of this release, and history of ACB doing limited bottling’s with other bands it seems like a true and honest tribute. Though, eventually I would love to see Jack Daniel’s do a tribute edition to Lemmy and Motorhead like their Frank Sinatra Select or Century Edition.
If you’re interested in other whiskey and metal / hard rock edition bottles, ACB also carries a special edition Knob Creek single barrel selected by the band themselves which they’ve nicknamed, “The Devil You Know.”
Were you one of the lucky ones to snag a bottle? If so, tell us what you think.
