This week’s Manhattan Monday features Angel’s Envy Port Barrel Finished bourbon, which is vastly different from their Rum Cask finish, along with some of Dillon’s Cranberry Bitters, & Dolin Sweet Vermouth. Here’s the recipe:
- 2 oz Angel’s Envy
- .75 oz Dolin Sweet Vermouth
- 4 Dashes Dillon’s Cranberry Bitters
- Lemon Coin for Garnish
Combine all liquid ingredients in a mixing glass with ice, stir for 20 seconds, and strain into a cocktail glass.
The Angel’s Envy Port Cask Finish is much less of a sweeter whiskey than it’s counterpart mentioned above. Even in a cocktail the woody notes of the bourbon shine through as well as the the chocolaty and fruity port notes that mix well with the Dolin’s lighter sweeter vermouth taste. You don’t really get any of the cranberry until the finish but it’s a lovely finale to this surprisingly light Manhattan.
I’ll be posting a review of both Angel’s Envy’s finished bourbons shortly so keep your eyes peeled.
