Whiskey Writes was born out of a previous hobby of posting quotes from various authors, musicians, artists, and cultural personalities juxtaposed with glasses of whiskey. I originally started doing on Tumblr under the name Whiskey & Misanthropy and over the course of several years the profile evolved into featuring whiskey tasting notes and reviews, cocktail recipes, some personal writing, articles, and more.

Eventually I started an Instagram of the same name and began posting much of the same content there as well as a more personal view into my life, my travels, and my whiskey adventures. The profiles and my followings grew, I’ve been approached by numerous brands to collaborate, review, and promote their products but I’ve always done it with a particular vision in mind. In August of 2015 I made the decision to rebrand Whiskey & Misanthropy into Whiskey Writes.

The decision was made for a couple reasons. First, I wanted to present a friendlier face that would open up new opportunities to connect with both fans and brands. My misanthropy, while well intentioned, is no longer the focus of this brand. To that effect, we have the second reason for change, I am in love with the current state of whiskey culture. Be it craft distilleries, small batch releases from big brands or smaller players, craft ingredient makers from bitters to syrups to shrubs and beyond. I want to use my voice and audience to promote the wonder water of life that has come to encompass all aspects of whiskey culture.

I seek to educate, inform, enlighten, entertain, and instruct all who pass through this site or my social media profiles. Whether you like scotch, bourbon, rye, or all the other various aspects of whiskey from top shelf to the dusty plastic caps of the bottom shelf brands you are welcome. There is no snobbery here, just a love for all things whiskey and everything that goes with it. You’l find reviews, whiskey cocktail recipes, explanations and information on different ingredients, songs about or inspired by whiskey and drinking, news on special releases, tasting notes, and more.

If you have any questions, would like my input on something whiskey related, for business inquiries, to get me to review your product, or just to drop me a line, I encourage you visit my contact page.

If you’d like, you can follow me on Instagram, Tumblr, or Twitter for additional fun and looks into my personal life.

Either way, cheers, and welcome.
